Cleaned the hack. Still getting hammered? 404 Guard helps handle traffic to old spam pages.

AFTER A SPAM CLEAN-UP

The spam is gone. The traffic hasn’t stopped.

Old spam addresses can keep receiving requests long after the pages are removed. 404 Guard helps your cleaned website answer those requests without doing as much work.

$97 AUD for a 12-month licence during the introductory offer. Normal price $199 AUD. Including GST.

A restored website protected by a teal shield while old 404 requests continue behind it.

WHAT’S LEFT BEHIND

Removing the pages doesn’t remove every link.

Bots may have saved the old addresses. Other websites may still link to them, and search engines can take time to update their results. All of that traffic can carry on asking your clean site for pages that no longer exist.

Each missing-page request can still make WordPress load code before returning a 404. In a large wave, that’s work your restored website could do without.

Help the site recover while the old requests continue.

DELETED SPAM PAGES

Answer with less work

Give missing spam addresses a smaller, quicker response instead of repeatedly loading the usual WordPress page.

GOOGLE AND BING

Leave a useful next step

A real visitor following an old result should have a clear way to your services, home page or contact details.

SITE OWNERS AND DEVELOPERS

Check what’s happening now

Review missing requests and compare response times while watching the site’s normal pages too.

A practical handover after the clean-up

FIRST

Finish the repair.

Have the compromise removed and the cause dealt with. 404 Guard doesn’t clean infected files or fix the vulnerability that let the spam in.

THEN

Check the addresses.

Build the safe list, confirm that genuine content still works and choose what visitors see for missing pages.

AFTER INSTALLATION

Compare performance.

Record response times and hosting load while the old traffic continues. Keep notes of any other changes made.

Still getting hammered after a clean-up?

Try 404 Guard against the requests for those deleted pages.

Common questions after a spam infection

No. It helps your website handle the requests for removed pages. Search engines make their own decisions about updating results. Keep the proper missing-page status and use your normal search-console clean-up process.

A catch-all redirect can create more work and confuse the purpose of those links. Choose your missing-page behaviour deliberately. Use redirects for old addresses with a suitable replacement, and test the setup.

Not necessarily. Some requests may be handled earlier and never reach the tool doing the logging. Compare incoming traffic separately from the work your website does.

Take some pressure off the cleaned site.

The trial includes 500 protected 404 hits. A licence is $97 AUD for 12 months during the introductory offer.
